The Food:
Rundown Cafe has a fresh and vibrant menu that is full of well-made dishes. I got the Hawaiian poke bowl for my entree. I also ordered the rundown chowder as a side. The poke bowl was delicious with raw ahi tuna being the protein. It was seasoned with scallions, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. The bowl also came with ginger slaw, edamame beans, warm rice, and crispy wontons. The rest of my party got different variations of their popular sesame noodle bowls. They come with noodles, veggies, mandarin oranges, crispy wontons, and a sweet sauce.
Service:
The service at Rundown Cafe is always great. We usually order takeout from here and each time the order is ready within a reasonable time, even during busy hours. Rundown also has cool t-shirts which you can buy when you go to pick up your food or after you dine in.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at Rundown Cafe is very cool. When you first walk up to the door, there is a koi pond on the left that is full of fish. You can purchase fish food from a dispenser and feed them, which is lots of fun, especially if you have kids. Inside there is a dining room on the first and second floor, along with a deck above the koi pond.
Rating: Excellent |⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|
Rundown Cafe has been a staple dinner choice for my family and me every time we visit the Outer Banks. Their food is consistently good, and the staff we meet are super friendly! They describe their cuisine as "island food" having different inspirations from many cultures around the world. This makes each of their dishes unique and worth trying! Next time you are in the Outer Banks, give Rundown Cafe a try!
