The Food:
I thought the food at the Foundry was decent. I had the fried chicken sandwich with french fries. It was crispy on the outside and a little dry on the inside. They also put lettuce, pickles, and a honey mustard sauce on top. For our appetizer, we ordered the hummus trio. This included three types of hummus and a good charred garlic bread. For the rest of the entrees, the lamb ragout was good and came with a vodka sauce. However, the Reuben sandwich did not have much meat on it.
Service:
Our service at the Foundry was not that good. The lamb ragout came out cold and we had to have it heated up. They also forgot a drink we ordered halfway through the meal which we never got. The restaurant was busy but it was not the best service I've ever had.
Atmosphere:
The inside of the Foundry is decorated pretty nicely. It has a rustic gastropub feel with many vintage pictures on the wall depicting Pittsburgh's industrial history. We sat right next to the window and got a good view of the city and the bridges of downtown. There is also a bar up front where you can grab a drink if you do not want to have a sit-down meal.
Rating: Average |⭐⭐⭐✩✩|
I thought the Foundry was just ok during our visit. We ordered lots of things to try off the menu and they ranged from good to average. The biggest disappointment was the service which we had multiple problems with during our meal. I also think the food was expensive and for the quality and service it does not justify the price. If you are on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, there are plenty of other better restaurants to try.
