Doce Taqueria
Overview:
Doce Taqueria is a local Mexican restaurant with two locations in Pittsburgh. The one I visited is on McKnight Road. Doce Taqueria is open 11AM-10PM daily, with the dinner rush being the busiest time. Doce is known for its signature tacos and great chips and dip.
You can order the food in person for sit-down dining, takeout, or delivery. Delivery can be ordered through DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub. On the most recent visit to Doce, we decided to sit down and eat our food at the restaurant. However, the delivery for Doce Taqueria is highly rated and makes for good delivery food that stays warm.
The Food:
Fish Tacos |
Dino Bowl |
For our quick lunch at Doce Taqueria, I had the Dino Bowl, and my friend had the fish tacos. My dino bowl had carne asada steak, lettuce, black beans, pico de Gallo, Cholula crema, guacamole, cheese, cilantro, and lime. This made for a refreshing and tasty bowl all for $10 even with the carne asada. The guacamole, cheese, and lime really made the bowl come together and all the ingredients were high quality.
I have also had the fish tacos on a previous visit to Doce and those are also great. They come with fried cod fillet, Mexican slaw, pico de Gallo, Doce sauce, cilantro, and lime juice. I thought the fish was crunchy and the taco had fresh toppings that made it one of the best tacos I have ever eaten. If you are up in the air as to which taco to order, the taco box comes with two so you can mix and match.
Service:
I thought the service at Doce Taqueria was normal and on par with other fast-casual restaurants that do hybrid table service. At Doce, you order your food at the counter and they give you a number to place on the table you sit at. The worker will then have your food cooked and bring it to you when it's done. However, if you want a drink, you grab it from the fridge when you first check out. If you are looking for a strong drink, Doce serves Don Julio margaritas.
Atmosphere:
Order Counter |
The inside of Doce Taqueria is decorated very nicely. I think the theme of the restaurant is Mexican street food and they show that with the neon signs, cool hanging ornaments, and car decals throughout the store. The inside is clean, has lots of windows, and is open and inviting when you sit down to eat.
Rating: Good |⭐⭐⭐⭐✩|
Doce Taqueria offers lots of great and tasty food options like tacos, dino bowl, and chips with dip. If you want tacos and chips together they offer a box with two tacos and chips with dip for a reasonable price. They offer many different ways to order the food both in person and online. This place is also no frills, so you do not need a reservation or to wear fancy clothes. Doce Taqueria is similar to Condado Tacos, which is another Pittsburgh taco chain I visited and reviewed. If you are in Pittsburgh and want to try Mexican food that is not Chipotle, give Doce Taqueria a shot!
