Allegheny City Brewing

Overview:

Allegheny City Brewing is located at 510 E Ohio Street in the East Allegheny neighborhood of Pittsburgh, also called "Deutschtown". It is a fully operational brewery that makes unique and delicious beers. Some selections include lagers, ciders, IPAs, and even nonalcoholic beers. If you want something else they even have hard seltzers, wine, and cocktails. Below are the hours of operation for the taproom.

The Beers:

Food Trucks:

Allegheny City Brewing also hosts a rotating list of food trucks throughout the week. During my visit, they were hosting Yovi's Food Truck. They serve a variety of Italian street food classics like hot sausage and dipped beef sandwiches, along with hot dogs and fries. The food truck was parked right out back on Emlin St in the alley. I was able to get to the food truck through the back door of the brewery.

Chicago Dog w/ Cheese Fries

The first thing I had at Yovi's was the Chicago dog and cheese fries. I really like the fresh ingredients on the dog and the quality soft bun. The fries were cooked perfectly being crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. 

Italian Sausage 

However, my favorite things that Yovi's was serving were both the Italian sausage and beef sandwiches. First, the Italian sausage included spiced Sicilian sausage served on a baguette and topped with giardiniera pepper mix. This sandwich was fantastic, with the sausage and pepper mix being spicy and the baguette was fresh and delicious. The sausage did have a mild fennel taste to it as well.

The Italian beef sandwich included seasoned roast beef served on a baguette dipped in its own aujus topped with the giardiniera pepper mix. I thought the beef was tender and the baguette dipped in the aujus made the sandwich perfect. 

Service:

The service at both Allegheny City Brewing and Yovi's was quick and the workers were all super friendly. If you need another refill you can go up to the bar and quickly get another drink. They are also super dog-friendly and will treat your dogs with kindness if you bring one. 

Atmosphere:

Allegheny City Brewing has a great atmosphere inside its new taproom. Opened in May of 2024, the new taproom has tons of seating on the first floor, second-floor mezzanine, beer garden outside, and second-floor patio. Unfortunately, we could not sit outside as we came during the cold winter but the beer garden area looks great for the warmer months of the year.

Allegheny City Brewing is definitely a must-try if you are a beer enthusiast in Pittsburgh. They have a large selection of in-house, craft beers and alcoholic drinks. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the inside and outside are decorated nicely. There are also many events and food trucks hosted at ACB, so you can always find something to do or grab a bite to eat while you are here.
